Abe Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Abe Smith, 84, who left us on February 17, 2025, surrounded by his family in Tahlequah, OK. Abe was born on May 30, 1940, to the late James G. Smith and Rhoda (Aubrey) Smith right here in Tahlequah.

Abe will be laid to rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in a private burial ceremony, where the family will be honoring his life and service to our country. Abe proudly served in the United States Army, a time that he looked back on with pride.

Abe was a true lover of life; he enjoyed cruising car lots and hunting for treasures at flea markets with his family. A devoted husband to Stella Smith for 34 wonderful years, he was also a cherished PaPa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Stella Smith, children, Janette Smith and James Smith and wife Kelsie, and their grandchildren: Jennifer Leeann, Megan Smith-Cook and husband Scotty, Rowan Smith, and Jaxon Smith, along with seven great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy.

Abe was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl Smith and Frank Smith. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family invites you to celebrate his life and share in the memories he leaves behind in the days to come.
