Albert Bowdish

Albert William Bowdish the son of Richard Allen and Jesse Pearl (Goodlove) Bowdish was born May 1, 1918 in Central City, Iowa and departed this life on January 16, 2019 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 100 years, 8 months and 15 days.

Albert grew up on a farm and went to Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis where he dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He served as a missionary with his wife Pearl for over 37 years in India. He kept in touch with many people from his time in the mission field. He enjoyed writing letters to keep in touch and he also had a way with words and he would write poetry which he would read aloud. He not only kept in touch with them but he was also a prayer warrior and prayed for many people as well. He had a strong mind and enjoyed memorizing scripture, in fact he recited a big portion of the Bible on his 100th birthday. He enjoyed gardening, reading the Bible and playing games with his special friend Priscilla. Albert had a way with storytelling and enjoyed telling jokes. Albert loved the Lord and he loved his family who visited from near and far, in particular Ben and Kimberly and little Josephine who visited faithfully from Thomas, OK. He touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Pearl Bowdish; his daughter Ellen Marie Bowdish; and his sister Catherine Jordan.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his daughters Karen Tamminen of Helsinky, Finland, and Rebecca Vestrum and husband Victor of Oslo, Norway; his foster daughters Kalsang Sorreng and Tsering and Tony Malik of Mussoorie, India; his niece Barbara Hill of Ft. Collins, CO; a special friend Priscilla Barnes of Tahlequah; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
