Alline Houghland was born July 7, 1936 in Stroud, Oklahoma to Abe and Lou Wright Moses and departed this life on November 14, 2014 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 78years, 4 months and 7 days.
Alline lived most of her life in Cherokee County, moving here as a teenager. She married and had one son, Clint Keys. While raising Clint, with the help of family, she pursued an education at NSU. She attained a teaching degree in 1965 and as teaching jobs were hard to get in this area, she went to Kansas City, Missouri for her first teaching job. She later taught at Jane, Missouri, McPherson, Kansas, Shiloh School in the Peggs, Oklahoma area and retired from Briggs. Alline had the unique experience of teaching at a one room, one teacher school named Shiloh. She was always tuned into the needs of others and would take her clippers to school and give haircuts to the male students who otherwise would not have had a haircut. She loved horses, and as a young girl it was not uncommon to see her racing along the Boudinot Road on her bay mare Babe. She would grab Babes mane and swing up on her back and take off riding bareback. Alline was an ArtistMusician. She began playing the piano in elementary school, the French horn in band and later she played the guitar. She could make a tune on just about anything she picked up. She taught art and music while teaching at Briggs Elementary, even though that was not her major. As an elementary student she would draw bulletin boards for teachers in classrooms other than her own. She was always the champion of the underdog. You never had to wonder what she was thinking, shed let you know. Alline was never afraid to stand up for what she believed. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a teen. She studied her Bible and loved to talk with others about the word of God. If a church needed a pianist, thats where she attended. Alline touched many lives in her life and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Alline is survived by her son Clint Keys and wife Donna, two grandchildren John and Sandra, and eight great grandchildren, one sister Darlene Cobb and husband Winston, a nephew Steve Cobb and his children Stephanie Bush and husband Jared and Ace Cobb. Many friends and other relatives also survive her.
