Barbara Chambers

Barbara Chambers, 94, passed away on January 2, 2024 at Go Ye Village in Tahlequah, OK. She was born on March 20, 1929 at the Muskogee Baptist Hospital to A. Max and Martha Elizabeth (Dickson) Holcomb. Barbara earned her bachelor's degree in Vocational Home Economics at Oklahoma A&M College (now OSU) in Stillwater, Ok in 1951.

 

Funeral service for Barbara Chambers of Tahlequah, OK will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah with Chaplain Rodnie Groomer officiating. Prior to the service the family will be available for visiting family and friends at the funeral home. Burial will be immediately after the service at Stilwell City Cemetery.

 

She married the love of her life, Paul Bryan Chambers, Jr. in Henryetta, OK where her dad was Pastor, on Jan 27, 1951. Barbara and Paul were married 70 years.

 

She was a homemaker, raising 4 girls and working alongside Paul at First United Methodist Church in Muskogee, OK for many years. She later worked at the Board of Education office (the same building she was born in).

 

In 2010, they moved to Go Ye Village in Tahlequah, OK. Barbara loved the Lord, her husband and family and friends with all her heart.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Chambers, her parents, Max and Betty Holcomb and son-in-law, Larry Henderson.

 

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Becky (Mitch) Anderson of Sand Springs, Paula Henderson of Coweta, Kathy Chambers of Muskogee, Jennifer (Jeff) Wallace of Moore, Eight grandchildren, Rachel (Ron) Campbell, Melissa (Cam) Barnes, Schuyler (Katy) Anderson, Elijah (Hannah) Anderson, Matt (Alis) Henderson, Josh (Elizabeth) Henderson, Kayla (Chris) Doiron, Kristin (Tim) Johnson and their families, 15 great grandchildren and numerous family and friends.

 

Memorials can be made to Rhody Christian Fellowship, P.O. Box 1647, Kingston, RI 02881, where her grandson, Matt Henderson, is the Campus minister.
