Hulbert, OK ~ Bill Fisher the son of Amos and Cloeta (Lowery) Fisher was born September 29, 1948 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on March 9, 2017 in Hulbert, Oklahoma at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Bill loved life and he lived it the way he wanted to live it. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, drinking beer and playing golf. He enjoyed the outdoors and the camaraderie of family and friends that he hunted with, fished with, or maybe shot a game of golf with in the later years. Bill was quite the athlete and excelled at sports in general. He was All-State Football and Baseball at Tahlequah High School and was recruited by OU and OSU for football (his choice was OSU), but the New York Yankees had a better offer on the table at the time and he joined their club and played baseball for 3 years. While playing baseball for the Yankees, Bill was drafted into the Army where he spent the next 5 years. He returned home but was still an avid athlete over the years along with other ventures. He played in the World Fastpitch Tournament twice and was inducted into the Tahlequah Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame in January 2017. Bill was a business owner and had a partnership in a piping distributorship in Broken Arrow for many years before selling and moving back home. He went to work for Cherokee County District 1 and worked for Maxie Thompson for over 16 years until his retirement. Bill was a heck of a guy that touched many lives over the years, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father Amos Fisher.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Kathy Fisher of the home; his mother Cloeta Fisher of Tahlequah; his children Shelley Davis and spouse Jeff Limore of Stilwell, Tony Davis of Hulbert, Stephanie Cooper of Tahlequah, and Vanessa Robinson and husband Terry of Sperry; his sister Amy Williams of Broken Arrow and 8 grandchildren. Many special friends (you know who you are), nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive him.
