Billy Claude Enkey, 90, of Hulbert, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Claremore Veterans Center, Claremore, Oklahoma.

Funeral Service will be 10 AM, Thursday, November, 16, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in Tahlequah, with Bobby Wood officiating. The bural will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 3 Pm until 7 PM at Hart funeral Home in Tahlequah.

Bill was born May 21, 1933, at the family farm homeplace North of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to the late Claude A. & Olive M. Freeman Enkey. He joined his siblings, Opal Beatrice; Lon Benjamin; & Zona Marie. He would be followed by Alzada Lucielle & Sam D. He was raised on the family farm attending Shiloh School in his youth. He attended & graduated from Hulbert High School in 1951. Bill furthered his education graduating from Tulsa University with an accounting degree.

Bill was drafted to the United States Army where he served in Germany & is a veteran of the Korean war. After honorably serving 2 years in the Army, he earned the rank of Corporal & was honorably discharged in 1955.

Bill married Nan(cy) Jo Parker Moore, December 26, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together, they moved from Tulsa to the family farm in 1970 where they set up home & raised their 5 boys.

Bill was employed at Lake Region Electric Cooperative where he served in many positions. For the most part, of his time he worked as the plant accountant. He also worked as the member relations/public relations liaison. He performed energy audits & oversaw the right-of-way spraying program.

Bill was a friend to everyone he met. He was well known for asking your last/maiden name & tying the families together through genealogy. Bill & Nan were very enthusiastic about genealogy & really enjoyed meeting people & making family ties. Together they traced at least 2 family lines all the way back to Adam & Eve.

Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nan Enkey of the home; 5 sons David Enkey of Woodall, Oklahoma; Joe Enkey of Hulbert, Oklahoma; Jon Enkey of Wagoner, Oklahoma; Brigham Enkey of Keys, Oklahoma; Dietrich Enkey of Umatilla, Oregon; A sister Zona Siler of Wagoner, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; & numerous nieces, nephews, & of course "cousins".

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Lon & Sam; 2 sisters Opal & Alzada; & 2 grandsons Dietrich Karic Jobe Enkey & Mark Daryl Enkey.
