Billy Bob Hayes (Bill) the son of LD and Helen (Shaffer) Hayes was born August 18, 1948 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and he departed this life on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his brother by his side, at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 26 days.
Bill attended Tahlequah Public Schools and graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1966. Bill excelled as tight end on the Tiger Football Team and was a member of the Kiwanis Key Club. Bill received a football scholarship to play for Northeastern State Redmen. Bill graduated Northeastern with an Art Major, and continued his art studies at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. After completing his first semester he earned scholarships for each semester until his graduation because of his superior work. Bill remained in Sarasota for several years doing graphic design and advertising art. The 1980's brought Bill back to the Tulsa area where he was employed in the gas and oil industry for advertising. He also worked for the Tulsa World graphics design department.
Bill loved living in Tahlequah. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mostly Sooner Football. He was an extreme Sooner fan. Bill enjoyed visiting with friends and the holiday gatherings with family.
He was preceded in death by his father LD Hayes and an infant brother Arthur Lee Hayes.
He is survived by his mother Helen Hayes; his brother Sherman Hayes and wife Zelma; his niece Amy Orrison and husband Matt and their children Beth Ann and Dylan Orrison; and his nephews Jon Hayes and Coty Hayes. Many friends and other loved ones also survive him.
