Buck Jones Jr.

Buck Buster Jones Jr. the son of Buck Sr. and Katie (Unger) Jones was born September 24, 1951 in the Tailholt Community and departed this life on May 6, 2016 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Buster enjoyed life and loved having fun. He was a jokester and loved to play practical jokes. He enjoyed shooting pool, doing carpentry work and riding horses. He enjoyed being outside working with his livestock and his game chickens.
He loved the chicken fights and he raised his own game chickens. He started jockeying when he was 15 years old. His cousin Bill Jones was a trainer and got him into horse racing. He was a jockey for over 40 years.
He married Shirley Mayfield on August 20, 1973 and to this union was born two sons Bryan and Bucky. Buster loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and he loved his dog Skeeter.
Buster touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Tommy Jones; and 2 sisters Betty Martin and Judy Wells, his sister -in - laws Rhonda Jones of Tailholt and Diane Jones of Tahlequah. Brother-in-law Jack Martin.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his children Bryan Jones and wife Sara of Stillwater, and Bucky Jones of Tulsa; his sister Reba Spears and husband Frank of Tahlequah; his brother Johnny Jones of Tailholt;
and 2 grandchildren Emma Jones and Henry Jones. Brother-in-law- David Wells of Tahlequah. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.

The family would like to thank family, friends and Wesley, Eli, Drew, Lottie and Brittany at Cherokee County Nursing Home for all the care and love to Buck.
