Carolyn Chrisite

March 2, 1945 — June 15, 2015

Carolyn Darlene Christie was born to Kenneth and Marie (Jennings) Holmes on March 2, 1945 in Tailholt, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with her Lord on June 15, 2015 at the Age of 70 years 3 months and 13 days.
When she was 2 her family moved to Guymon, OK where the family lived for 8 years. They moved back to the community in 1955 where she attended the Combs and Oil Springs School Districts.

On August 2, 1960 she was baptized by Brother Leon Palmer into the church of the Firstborn. She was a true and faithful follower of our lord Jesus Christ and had a servant's heart. Helping others brought her great joy.

On April 1, 1960 she started dating the love of her life Mr. Martin Christie. They were married one year later on April 1, 1961. They shared a long and happy life together for 49 years, 9 months, and 6 days. Carol and Martin expanded their family having 4 children

Carol spent her life raising her children. She was always ready for a game of cards a board game or to bake something yummy. She carried on this tradition with her grandchildren. After the kids were grown she went to work for

Cookson hills community action head start where she put her skills of helping people to work. She received a Service award from the governor of Oklahoma for going above and beyond the expectations.

She will be truly missed by all those who knew her. We will miss her stories, her sense of humor, her smile, and the grace that she showed through her trials. She taught a lot of us how to be good mommas, good wives, and good sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Kenny Holmes, her sister Wanda James, her sister Susie Holmes, and her great granddaughter Olivia Payton.

She is survived by a loving family which includes Amos Christie and wife Madonna, Margaret Taylor and husband Dean, Jill Cope and Husband Ken, all of Welling and Jane Jones and husband Martin of Vici, Oklahoma; her brothers

Dalton Holmes of Sallisaw and Paul Holmes of Stillwater; her sisters Dorothy Sweet of Welling, and Gail Overacker and husband Edgar of Stillwater; 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren on the way, and a very

special friend Diana Johnson. Many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives also survive her.
