Donita Girdner

Donita Jean Girdner was born at home in Tailholt, a small community in Welling Oklahoma to Mary Davidson and Garlin Girdner on June 29, 1951. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 9, 2024 at 72 years of age.

Funeral Service 10 AM, Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, burial to follow at Caney Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday,February 14, 2024 from 5 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home.

Donita married Jack Goss of Tahlequah and gained 2 very young bonus children, Mary Ann and Jimmy Goss. They then had 3 children of the marriage, Jackie Goss, Jennifer (Goss) Zubillaga and Nikisha Goss. Jackie blessed her with 4 grandsons, Jonathan, Jake, Blayn & Ducotah Goss and had only 1 granddaughter, Taeja Zubillaga, born of Jennifer and Michael Zubillaga. Donita has 3 great-grandchildren born of Jonathan who are JR, Riley and Nathan Goss.

She was known for being a rough & tumble tomboy that never shied away from any fight, including cancer. Damn was she ornery. Donita would instigate a good scuffle with absolutely anyone, anytime. In her younger years, her best times were spent playing softball even up through her pregnancy of her youngest daughter. She was a champion bowler and had mad skills at billiards.

Donita left school before graduating high school to raise 3 young babies, but was stubborn enough she went out and got herself 4 college degrees from Northeastern State University where she mastered special education teachings and retired after 30 years of dedication to her profession.

Up to the last moments of Donita's life, her body frail and worn she was making homemade gifts for friends and loved ones to have to remember her by. Her many talents included sewing, cooking or baking delicious meals, painting and writing poetry. She had a passion for gardening, telling people her life stories and dancing to any good beat.

One thing is certain, Donita told it like it was but always with a loving heart. Her faith was unwavering and she was always thankful to God for her blessings.

Donita was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Connie Bradham and Larry Bradham. She leaves behind to mourn her children, Jackie Goss and wife Michelle, Jennifer Zubillaga and husband Mike and Nikisha Goss; her 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, 1 baby sister, Anita Christie, 4 brothers, Gary, Arlie, Robie and Tony Girdner; the father of her children, Jack Goss; her beloved friend, Delena Goss and a host of many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
