Dorothy Casey

Dorothy Joan (Lance) Casey of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, loving mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on February 28, 2022, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 93, just shy of her 94th birthday. Dorothy "Dot" was born on March 31, 1928, in Kingsport, Tennessee, the eldest daughter of Curtis Collier Lance and Dorothy Joan (Thomas) Lance.

Dot was one of the most vibrant and kind souls you could meet. She would do anything to make sure her family was taken care of and felt loved. She met the love of her life and married, Bobby "Bob" Casey while both were stationed at the Pentagon for the Navy. Then a few years later, while stationed in Japan, they welcomed their daughter, Leigh. They lived all over, from the East to the West Coast, making sure they made memories everywhere they went. Being in the Navy, traveling and a baby girl later, did not stop Dot from going to school and getting her Associates Degree in English. She served on the Oklahoma State Library Board and enjoyed reading especially history and encouraged others to find this joy as well. She loved puzzles, word games and Wheel of Fortune.

Bob and Dot settled in Oklahoma both honorably discharged from the Navy in the late 60's, then they went on to make many more memories together. Dot loved animals especially dogs, hummingbirds and cardinals. She loved the simple things in life, but to Dot they weren't simple if she was with her family, who were everything to her. She will be missed dearly.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Bobby and a sister.

Dorothy is survived by a loving family which includes her daughter; Leigh and husband Mike Underwood, 3 grandchildren; Lance Underwood, Megan Underwood, and Lynly (Underwood) Coldwell and her husband Brandon, 3 great-grandchildren; Logan Casey Underwood, Rowan Francis Underwood, and John Michael Coldwell.

A service will be held at a later date.
