Dorothy Sweet

Dorothy Juanita Mae Holmes Sweet was born May 14,1941, to Kenneth and Maire Holmes at Welling, OK. Dorothy attended Caney School until the family moved to Guymon, OK in 1947. There she attended Unity School and Guymon Junior High before retuning to Cherokee County, OK in 1955. Dorothy then attended Tahlequah High School.

At the age of fifteen, Dorothy was baptized into the CHURCH of the FIRSTBORN on Dec. 30, 1956.

June 11, 1960, she married Earl Keith Sweet. To this union, seven children was born. The couple moved to Sallisaw, OK for the last five years of their marriage. The marriage ended in divorce Feb. 1977.

Dorothy and the children returned to Welling for a few months; then moved to Tahlequah where she began her career in Child Care in 1978. Dorothy owned and operated Sweet 'N" Tender Day Care until 1995, when she retired. She once again returned to Welling, OK.

Dorothy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her life, she was proud of all of her children and their families.

Dorothy was a strong person and everyone called her grandmother.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth Holmes and Paul Holmes; three sisters Sharon Sue Holmes, Wanda James and Carol Christie; a grandson, Randy Keith Catron; her ex-husband Earl Sweet and many dear friends.

She leaves behind her children: Keith Sweet of Welling; Becky Jennings and her husband John of Vici, OK; Troy Sweet and his wife Marcia; Joe Sweet and his wife Dana; Kathy Sweet; Kelli Catron and her husband Junior and Sean Sweet and his wife Melissa all of Welling; A brother Dalton Holmes of Sallisaw; a sister Gail Overacker and her husband Edgar of Stillwater; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.

Her grandchildren: Chris and Emily Jennings of Clarkrange, TN; Heather Jennings of Vici, OK; Erin Sweet of Tahlequah; Lucas and Ashley Sweet of Tahlequah; Andrew Jennings of Vici, OK; Armando and Chaila Romero of Bixby; Joseph and Sunny Sweet of Welling; Samuel Jennings of Vici; Levi Sweet of Welling; Jessika and Jacob Chuckluck of Tahlequah; Keicia and Jimmy Thirsty of Tahlequah; Benjamin Sweet; Hannah Sweet; Emelia Sweet, Ian Sweet and Abi Sweet all of Welling.

Her great-grandchlldren: Harlie Altland, Keirstyn Altland, Zane Sweet, Kylee Sweet, Jacob Jennings, Tazz Romero, Cameron Sweet, Liberty Romero,Octavian Jennings, Shrayder Catron, Jaxon Jennings, Josie Sweet, Ta-koda Romero, Princeton Chuckluck, Jenny Sweet, Cub Jennings, Fynton Sweet, Kai Jennings, Noel Sweet, Gracie Chuckluck, Feather Chuckluck, Rebecca Jennings and Kelli Jennings.
