Douglas Thompson the son of Audie and Helen (McLain) Thompson was born November 28, 1926 in Teresita, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on June 27, 2015 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 88 years and 7 months.
On November 27, 1959 Douglas married Nancy Louise Strong, and he always said that "When I found Nancy, I found a jewel."
Douglas was a well known man that everyone liked. He enjoyed teaching school at Oaks and Little Kansas for over 32 years. He was a preacher and he loved the Lord. He pastored Combs Baptist Church for 18 years and he was also the Pastor of Smith Chapel in Rose for several years. He preached the Word for over 48 years and loved going to church, singing in church and just serving the Lord. He was an avid coon hunter and bird hunter and he enjoyed fishing. One of his most cherished things was enjoying his biscuits and gravy every morning. Douglas touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Gladys Clinton, Adeline Hider, and Mary Smith; and his brother Jimmy Thompson.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Nancy Thompson of the home; his children Wyman Thompson and wife Teri of Leach, OK, Ricky Thompson and wife Lynnette of Tahlequah, OK, Robin Marler and husband Richard of Leach, OK, Tracy Thompson and wife Kristine of Oologah, OK and Michael Mayo and wife Debbie of Redding, CA; his brother Maxie Thompson of Teresita; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
