July 16, 1957 — August 28, 2014

Tex Alton Williams, 77, of Tahlequah, passed peacefully after a brief illness, on August 28th at the Mayo hospital in AZ. The youngest of eight children he was born at home to OC and Mary Williams outside of Checotah, OK. Butch, as he was known to family, was predeceased by his parents, brothers Winford, Debert and JC, as well as his daughter, Suzanne. He is survived by his daughter Wynter and her husband Randall of Edmond, grandsons Ian Kipgen, Christopher Pearson and Christophers sister Catrina, brothers Gaylord and Dale, sisters Nadine and LaVada and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many, many friends and a few black cows.

Al received degrees from Kansas University and the University of Tulsa, having a masters and a doctorate of education in psychology.

Al was a prominent educator and administrator at NSU in Tahlequah. He was instrumental in developing UCAT for NSU in Tulsa which later became NSU at Broken Arrow. He spent many years at NSU, ending his career there as VP of academic affairs from 19901998. He was the first licensed psychologist in the state and was also licensed nationally and served as president of the Oklahoma Counselors Association.

He was a gentleman farmer as he liked to put it, raising black Angus at Sawoaks ranch. He was the VP of the Arkansas Angus Association, president of the Oklahoma Angus Association and active in the National Angus Association.
