Edith Christie

Edith "Nanny" Christie the daughter of Luther and Edna (Davis) Deckard was born February 23, 1939 at Etta Bend and entered into eternal rest at her home surrounded by loved ones on July 25, 2017 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Nanny loved life and she loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, canning and cooking. She loved to cook meals for the family or whoever might show up she always made sure you had something to eat. Nanny married the love of her life, Junior Christie, on May 26, 1956 and spent nearly every minute with him until his passing in 2009. Nanny touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 52 years Junior Christie; her brothers Frank Deckard, Edward Deckard, Tommy Deckard, Arnie Deckard and James Deckard and her sister Nancy Deckard.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her children Tim Christie and wife Karen of Welling, Linda Christie of Tahlequah, and Dana Osburn and spouse Randy Ragsdale of Tahlequah; her brothers Bill Deckard and wife Joyce of Tahlequah, Rick Deckard of Tahlequah, and John Deckard and wife Alisha of Tahlequah; her sisters Nellie Matlock and husband Lloyd of Welling, Glenda Hodge of Welling and Janice Washington of Tahlequah; a special cousin Claudine and Lynn Brown of Mounds, OK; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.

The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to P.J., Colin and Michael. Also, a special thanks to Hospice of the Cherokee and Leigh Sheets.
