Ella Louise “Tech” Bolin
Age 68 | Bunch, Oklahoma
Ella Louise Bolin, lovingly known as “Tech,” age 68, of Bunch, Oklahoma, passed from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, faith, family, and cherished memories.
Tech was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Oscar Cornelius Bolin and Nellie Mae (Smith) Bolin. She grew up in the Cookson Hills, around Dry Creek, where she was traditionally raised and was a member of the Redbird Smith Ceremonial Grounds.
Throughout her life, Tech worked at Greenleaf Nursery and Tenkiller School. She was passionate about her work and was known for being a dedicated and hardworking woman. As the youngest of the Bolin boys and girls, she grew up learning from her older siblings. In many ways, she was a reflection of all her brothers and sisters, carrying a little piece of each of them throughout her life.
Tech loved playing softball with her family team, Dry Creek, and spent many wonderful years playing alongside teams from the Stilwell area. Those years brought countless memories, laughter, and good times with family and friends.
She was also known as the best traditional cook, especially when preparing foods harvested from the land. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a birthday cookout, or simply a family get-together, Tech was always ready to prepare a special meal for those she loved. She often said she did things “the way Momma did it,” keeping family traditions and memories alive through her cooking.
From catching crawdads and fishing for perch to jamming out to some old-time rock and roll, Tech was simply Tech. There was no mountain too big to climb and no stone left unturned when she set her mind to something. She was a fighter throughout her life, facing and fighting through polio, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes with remarkable strength and determination.
Tech knew the Lord Jesus Christ. She was saved and baptized, and she was a true prayer warrior. She prayed for her family and always encouraged those around her to believe and have faith. She often reminded others, “There’s nothing we can do but give it to God.” Her faith was an important part of her life, and she carried that belief with her through every challenge.
Tech's home was always welcoming, and she had a way of making everyone feel at home. She was a treasured Cherokee speaker within her community, loved being outdoors, and was deeply devoted to her family. Her presence, stories, laughter, cooking, and love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ella Louise “Tech” Bolin will be deeply missed, but the memories she created and the traditions she passed down will live on through the generations who loved her.
Those Who Preceded Her in Death
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Cornelius Bolin and Nellie Mae (Smith) Bolin; her twin brother, Don Bolin; her younger brothers, Donald Ray Bolin and Johnny Bolin; her older sister, Naomi Gourd; her nephews, Edward Bolin and Myron Bolin; and her beloved niece, whom she lovingly referred to as her granddaughter, Addison “AO” Reese.
Those Left to Cherish Her Memory
She is survived by David Bolin, Mary Pritchett, Martha Jones, and Jennie Kay Bolin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.
Tech loved her entire family with all her heart. Her love, strength, faith, and the memories she shared with those closest to her will remain in their hearts forever.
