Ellouise Whitmire

Ellouise "Wezzie" Whitmire, the daughter of Chester and Josephine Whitmire was born April 20, 1948, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and passed peacefully at her home on July 4, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78.

Funeral Service will be 10 AM, Friday, July 10, 2026 at Hart Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Hart Funeral Home.

Wezzie was a very proud alumni of Sequoyah Indian boarding school, class of 1967. She had very fond memories of her time there and was ready to share stories about Sequoyah any chance she got. She was a member of Tulsa Indian United Methodist Church. Wezzie was a Unit Clerk for Tulsa Regional for many years and eventually retired from Saint Francis Hospital to be the official family baby rocker.

Wezzie's hobbies consisted of collecting movies, baking the best cookies and pies and walking down memory lane. Yet, her greatest joy came from anything that involved her nephews and nieces, like creating the most magnificent Easter baskets with the utmost detail down to the exact number of jellybeans in each basket year after year.

Wezzie's witty personality and jokes will never be forgotten. She had a talent for being what any of us needed when we needed it. She made it well known how much she missed her Momma, Daddy and her siblings and she longed to be reunited. Our hearts are well because we know she's finally home.

She was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Josephine Whitmire. Her sisters, Wynona Hogner, Polly Dacy, Agnes Chaney, Rebecca Worthington and brother Sunny Whitmire, niece Thersa Ann Zinter, great nieces Sage and Katelyn Worthington, great great nephew Miles Pascoe.

She is survived by her sister, Euphamia Thompson of Jenks, OK. Her cousin Celeste Tillery of Claremore, OK. Her beloved nephews and nieces, Kenny Hogner, Billy Hogner, Mark Worthington, Josie Pascoe, Becca Worthington, Christopher Wright, Roddy Whitmire, Jennifer Bowman, Jessica Kantor, Dana Robinson, Chance Whitmire, Daniel Hoover, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
