Elva was born September 20, 1933 in Hooker, Ok, the daughter of Edward Smith and Virginia Dean. She was raised by her loving grandparents Jessie Edson Dean and Florence Luella Dean. She married James Hogue in 1956 and later had five sons. She loved her family dearly. She enjoyed ordering special presents for her family and friends for the holidays. She loved watching everyone open up their presents and it would bring her such joy. There was never a bigger fan of Elvis than her. She had a house full of Elvis mementos. She couldn’t help but smile ear to ear and dance around when she heard an Elvis song. She knew just about everything about Elvis and always remembered his birthday, although she always remembered everyone’s birthday. She always loved to visit with her granddaughter Anna but no one brought a bigger smile to her face than her best furry friend Buffy. She loved playing the piano for her church. The last year of her life she couldn’t get behind the piano much but she never stopped playing the piano in her head. You couldn’t help but smile when she smiled. She always had a child like laugh and spirit about her. A spirit that will truly be missed.
Elva departed this life on Saturday, January 20, 2024, in Tahlequah, Ok, at the age of 90. Preceding her in death were her parents, grandparents, daughter in law, Cheryl Hogue, and son Jerry Hogue.
She is survived by her sons Jim Hogue, Mike Hogue, Ron Hogue, and grandchildren, Anna Hogue, Jackie Hogue, and Mathew Hogue.
