Emily Sue Harreld

Emily Sue Harreld, beloved mother, MeMa and Grandma passed away on October 23, 2024 in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 90 years old. Sue was born in Cleveland, Oklahoma on August 1, 1934 to Neoma and Ray Adkins and grew up in Baxter Springs, Kansas. She worked as a secretary for Standard Oil in Tulsa, Oklahoma before she married our father, Jerry in 1956. They raised their family with love and devotion, first in Kansas City and Pittsburg, Kansas and then in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, as he pursued his academic profession. They were blessed to celebrate 56 years of marriage before he passed away in 2012. Sue took great joy in being a homemaker. She loved cooking, baking, growing flowers and especially music, singing and playing the piano. Since childhood, she was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Sue is survived by her two children, Melanie Slagle (Reed) and Douglas Harreld; Grandchildren Adam Slagle (Kristin), Christian Slagle, Jennifer Harreld, Megan Harreld, Zachary Harreld, and Emily Nicko (Will)
