Esther Harrington

Esther Bernice Harrington the daughter of Bert and Zora Hyacinth (Scott) Patterson was born on April 13, 1924 in Cushing, Oklahoma and she was called home to be with her Lord, surrounded by family on January 24, 2016 in Cookson, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 11 days.

Esther married Virgil Neal Harrington on May 31, 1943. Virgil worked for the BIA and Esther traveled with him to various events across the United States. They lived in Florida, Colorado and Muskogee before settling in Tahlequah. While in Colorado, Esther was a substitute teacher for 2 years. She enjoyed her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She cherished her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching game shows, and watching Billy Graham on television. She and Virgil had met Billy Graham during their travels and she faithfully gave to his ministry throughout her life. She was a member of the Park Hill Baptist Church. Esther had a unique talent of being able to crow like a rooster and she was still able to do it up until her last days here on earth. Esther touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Virgil Harrington; 1 brother and 1 sister.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her children Sharon Kay Fisher and husband Bruce of Tahlequah, Gary Harrington and wife Karen of Tahlequah, Gayle Edwards and husband Danny of Bartlesville and Donna Frank of Hollywood, FL; a special cousin Sandra Blakely of Cushing; 7 grandchildren: Kim Crawford, Kris Perkins, Todd Edwards, Robert Fisher, Karie Stanley, Ryan Fisher, and Heather Rogero; 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A host of friends and other relatives also survive her.

Special thanks to the grandkids; Kim, Jessica, Justin & Kody along with Carter Hospice for taking care of Nanny during her last months before the Lord called her home.
