Eugene Barnes

Eugene Henry Barnes Jr. the son of Eugene Henry Barnes Sr. and Doris (Lavoy) Barnes was born November 28, 1947 in Afton, Oklahoma and departed this life on January 20, 2019 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 23 days.

Eugene was given the nickname "Mick" by his mother and all who knew him knew him by that. Mick was an adventurer, he went on different gold prospecting adventures in Canada and Alaska. He prospected enough gold to pay for and complete the building of his home in Moodys. He eventually completed all the homes on his property there as he was a master carpenter. Mick was a published author and a poet and writer and he was very artistic. He was a painter and a sculptor. He enjoyed the outdoors and he loved to fish. Mick enjoyed life and he lived it to the fullest. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Kelly Barnes of the home; his children Eugene Henry Barnes III and wife RoseAlee of Nome, AL, Shana Holman of Coffeyville, KS and Leah Horrell of Moodys, OK; his dear friend whom he thought of as his brother Phil Comer of McCune, KS; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
