Forest Carter

Forest Owen Carter, age 87 of Westville, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Circle of Life in Springdale, Arkansas.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with Larry Norman and J.D. Rozell officiating. Burial will follow in the Free Water Cemetery under the direction of the Hart Funeral Home.

Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2023 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Forest Owen Carter was born April 25, 1935 in Christie, Oklahoma to Stermie Pollard and Mary Frances (White) Carter. He grew up in Adair County and graduated from the Stilwell High School in 1955.

On December 15, 1955 Forest married Euna Fern Poppino in Stilwell, Oklahoma. The couple made their home for a few years in Tulsa, Oklahoma before moving to Tahlequah. Forest went to the Tulsa Barber School before owning and operating Carter’s Barber Shop in Tahlequah, Oklahoma more than 30 years. He was a member of the Welling General Baptist Church. He also served as a deacon and song leader at various churches thru the years. Forest also helped start the Free Will Baptist Worship Center. He loved to coon, deer, turkey and squirrel hunt.

Survivors include his wife Euna Fern Carter of the home; two daughters Cathy & Marty Cox and Annetta & Mike Pierce; one sister Nadine Ketcher; Grandchildren Katrina & Mike Schumacher, Jessica Cox, Toby & Meghan Cox, Josh & Jaclyn Pierce and Taylor & Kevin Weigant; Great Grandchildren Destiny, Mason, Raegan, Chanse, Deegan, Eli, Graham, Charlie, Graham, Gabe, Kimber, Violet and Caleb; and life long friends Berneil and Mae Roger.

He was preceded in death by four brothers Wilburn, Drannon, Fleet, Lloyd; two sisters Renie Guinn and Madeline Price.
