Garrett Hawkins

December 11, 1997 — November 2, 2018

Garrett "Brannon", 20, died Friday November 2nd, 2018 at his foster parents' home in Ft. Smith, Ark.
Funeral service will be held on Friday November 9th, 2018 at 10:00 am at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Memorial services will be announced at a later date but will take place in Garretts' home town of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Garrett Brannon Lane Hawkins was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 11, 1997 to mother Tamara Vance. Brannon grew up in Tahlequah until he was 9 years old then moved to Ft. Smith. He eventually was placed in the care of Jackie and Gary Hamilton of Ft. Smith, Arkansas where he was deeply loved and cared for. He attended Southside Highschool and went on to graduate Tahlequah Highschool with the help and guidance of Mr. David Burchette. Brannon spent a lot of time hanging out with his siblings and friends in Tahlequah and lived with his sister Kourtney multiple times throughout his last years. Brannon enjoyed music, history, meeting "fly hunnies", writing, making people laugh, playing video games, and spending time with his girlfriend Liz. He was so very proud of his "baby genius" nephew Arthur. Brannon was set on "making something of himself" despite his troubled upbringing. He had more potential and strength than even he knew. He had plans to join the United States Airforce and scored extremely high on the ASVAB. Brannon talked about the day where he would eventually settle down and start a family close to his siblings. He loved his family, friends, foster parents and all who helped him along the way.
His family paid this tribute to him, "Brannon was extremely goofy, kind, smart and had the best personality. He was hilarious and would always make you laugh. He was adored by everyone that knew him. He was ornery, but you couldn't help to love him. He was strong and courageous. No words can explain the importance and impact he had on his family and friend's life. He was loved beyond belief. There will never be another G-Hawk."
Brannon is preceded in death by his older brother Coder Vance and father figure Jerry Crawford.
He is survived by his mother Tamara Vance of Tahlequah; sister Kourtney and brother in law Gene Raff of Tahlequah; sister and brother in law Carole and Billy Guffey of Tahlequah, sister Torey Snell of Tahlequah; sister Davyn "beez" Smith of Tahlequah; brother S'jon Vance of Tahlequah; brother Bryan Snell; foster parents Jackie and Gary Hamilton of Ft. Smith, Ark; and girlfriend Elizabeth Hendrickson of Van Buren.

The family would like to thank all of those who helped him during his short life. Special thanks to Debbie Snell, Jan and Ken Willis, The Hamilton House and to everyone else that made this special boy's life easier.
