George Knight

George Denton aka Lucky Knight Jr. was born in Phoenix, AZ on March 21, 1927 and departed this life on December 15, 2020 in Pryor, OK at the age of 93. Lucky was a people person, he loved people and met very few people that he would not stop and start up a conversation with. Lucky would sit with you as long as you wanted to and was very knowledgeable about a magnitude of things. Lucky dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He especially loved the time he had with his grandchildren. Lucky worked as a fruit harvester, a carpenter, a welder, a mechanic, a security officer. He was also at one time the Mayor of Oaks, OK and a volunteer deputy sheriff for Delaware County, OK.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Grasshopper-Knight and a daughter Cheryl Ann Grasshopper.

He is survived by his children Kerry McNichol and husband Murray of Inola, Katy Knight and husband Brandy Toth of Muskogee, David and wife Kathy of Tulsa, Jan Grogan and husband Randy of Tahlequah, Homer and wife Catrina of Pryor, Carol Grasshopper of Pryor, Rodney Knight of Mt. Clemons, MI, Peanut Jones of Tahlequah, Sandra Jones of Salina, Tammy Quinn and husband Darren of Pryor, 39 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives survive him.

Lucky loved the outdoors; he fished as much as he could but spent most of his time hunting. Lucky hunted until he was 90 years old and no longer able to walk through the woods and drag the deer out on his own. Lucky loved the Lord and had a personal relationship with him and often spoke of how blessed he was and how the Lord would take care of him.

What we all will miss the most is Dad’s stories about his hunting adventures and life’s lessons.

If there was ever a man born to hunt, it was Lucky Knight.
