Glenn Oscar Pierce went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017. Glenn was born May 31, 1922, to George Oscar and Blanche Levine (Knepshield) Pierce in Edmon, Pennsylvania, where he grew up and attended high school. He married Edith Sarah Robson, of Jeannette, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 1, 1941.
Glenn and Edith worked at Kingswood Children's Home in Tennessee for several months before moving to Wheaton, Illinois. Glenn worked as a carpenter, building houses for many years. He then worked for the local county forest preserve. Glenn also volunteered at his local church as a teacher, a deacon and, later, an elder. He also did maintenance of the church building. His hobbies were camping, bird watching and wood carving.
After their retirements, Glenn and Edith volunteered with various Christian organizations throughout the country. They moved to Go Ye Village in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 1992.
Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 70 years, Edith Sarah (Robson) Pierce; his parents, George and Blanche Pierce; and sisters Mary, Hazel, Edna, Belma and Marvel. He is survived by his sister Ennis Master; daughter Glenda Norwood and her husband, John; son George Pierce and his wife, Eleanor; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
