Gustavus Hawzipta

(Gus) Gustavus Delane Hawzipta of Park Hill,OK, was born on June 1, 1932, in Concho, OK the son of James Hawzipta and Maybel Au-Tay. He passed at home peacefully in his sleep on October 23, 2022, at 9:10 PM.

He was Preceded in death, by his father; James Hawzipta aka Charlie Jackson aka Tsa-so and mother; Maybel Au-tay, daughter of A-taddle-ty, sister; Charity Hawzipta, and brothers; Mathew Hawzipta and Leon Hawzipta.

He is Survived by his spouse; Darlene Hawzipta and son James Hawzipta.

Gus attended grade school at St. Patricks Mission in Anadarko,OK, he then went on and attended high school at Ft. Sill Indian school, then to Haskell Technical school. In 1953, he enlisted in The United States Marines until 1957. He worked at Westgate, CA, and then Okmulgee Tech. where became a watch repairman, and then worked at Meigs Jewelry in Tahlequah,OK. He received a Bachelors in Science Degree in Psychology From Northeastern State University. He was a wood sculptor and silver smith. He appreciated art and gave lecture At NSU, OU, and high schools. He will be missed.
