Haskell Brown of Eldon, OK passed away on May 14th, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 19th, 1927, to Claude and Thursie Brown. He lived an exceptional life full of love, service, and adventure.
Haskell was a proud Air Force veteran who served for over 20 years and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Haskell took great pride and honor in serving his country. In his time with the Air Force, Haskell flew into war zones and set up medical hospitals during World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. On March 15th, 1953, he married the love of his life, Biva "Maudean", and they made their home wherever the United States Air Force sent them. Haskell traveled all around the world, having been to all the states!
Throughout Haskell's life, he wore many hats. After leaving the Air Force, he worked as a cattle rancher and owned and operated Locust Grove cattle sale with his son-in-law, John R., worked at the Post Office and then Culver Funeral Home, and served on the soil conservation board for 38 years.
In his free time, Haskell enjoyed going to auctions and running an antique store in Westville, Stilwell, and Eldon called Brown's Bargain Barn. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. However, Haskell's most treasured pastime was going to Tri-Community W.E.B. Building to eat, pray, and fellowship with his special nieces Tina, Sandy, DaVonna, Glenda, Anita, Angela, Gail alongside old and new friends. His favorite meal being crappie, fried potatoes, brown beans, and cornbread.
Haskell is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Thursie Brown, his wife Biva "Maudean" Brown, his son Michael Brown, four sisters; Katie Ruth Langley, Virginia Moss, Berneice Canada, and Lafern Brown, and one brother, Harold Brown.
Haskell lived a wonderful life full of love surrounded by those who cared for him deeply. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Sellers and husband John R., adopted daughter Liz Bird, Pauline Moore (Sister), Heather Brown (granddaughter) and fiancé Tyler Sharp, Tiffany Pepe (granddaughter) and husband Vince Pepe and great-grandson Tristan Pepe, and many nieces and nephews.
Haskell Brown was a man who lived his life fully. His kindness, his generosity, and his love touched everyone who knew him. His legacy will continue through the memories he created with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services will be held on May 20th, 2023, beginning at 10:00AM at the Tri-Community W.E.B. Building followed by Graveside service at Shirley Cemetery in Eldon, OK with the Honor Guard.
