In his time with the Air Force, Haskell flew into war zones and set up medical hospitals during World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. In his free time, Haskell enjoyed going to auctions and running an antique store in Westville, Stilwell, and Eldon called Brown's Bargain Barn. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. However, Haskell's most treasured pastime was going to Tri-Community W.E.B. Building to eat, pray, and fellowship with his special nieces Tina, Sandy, DaVonna, Glenda, Anita, Angela, Gail alongside old and new friends. His favorite meal being crappie, fried potatoes, brown beans, and cornbread.

Haskell is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Thursie Brown, his wife Biva "Maudean" Brown, his son Michael Brown, four sisters; Katie Ruth Langley, Virginia Moss, Berneice Canada, and Lafern Brown, and one brother, Harold Brown.

Haskell lived a wonderful life full of love surrounded by those who cared for him deeply. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Sellers and husband John R., adopted daughter Liz Bird, Pauline Moore (Sister), Heather Brown (granddaughter) and fiancé Tyler Sharp, Tiffany Pepe (granddaughter) and husband Vince Pepe and great-grandson Tristan Pepe, and many nieces and nephews.
