Helen Hayes

Helen Lavell Hayes, 99, lifetime resident of Tahlequah, passed away Friday, December 29, 2024.

Mrs. Hayes was born December 9, 1924, in Centralia, Washington, to the late Sherman Shaffer and Reta Johnson Shaffer.

She is survived by a son, Sherman Hayes and his wife, Zelma; two grandchildren, Amy Beth Orrison and her husband, Matthew, and Jon Michael Hayes; step-grandchildren, David B. Bailey, Jr., Leslie Maker, and Neisha Wilson; three great-grandchildren, Coty Jon Hayes, Conner James Hayes, Dylan Orrison, and Beth Ann Orrison; step-great-grandchildren, Jace Maker and Caden Wilson.

Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, L. D. Hayes (whom she married November 8, 1942, in Tahlequah); two sons, infant son, Arthur Lee Hayes, and Bill Hayes; and two sisters, Doris and Lucille.

Funeral services will be private.
