Jack Wayne Schallner

Jackie Wayne Schallner was born April 27, 1957, in Cherokee, Oklahoma. He passed away May 7, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jack was one of seven children born to Jim and Bessie Schallner. Raised in Helena, Oklahoma, Jack enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors with his dad and brothers. He graduated from Helena-Goltry High School in 1975.

After high school graduation, Jack went to work at Sprague Electric and later with his dad at Schallner Electric in Helena, Oklahoma. During this time, he met the love of his life, Jane Strubhart, who would become his wife June 1, 1979. He then went to work for Pioneer Natural Gas Company, later known as Mustang Gas Products, in Ringwood, Oklahoma, where he retired after 40 years of continuous service.

Jack and his family moved to Fairview, Oklahoma in 1984, where he was a proud member of the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department, serving his community for 20 years before retiring from public service as a Captain. While living in Fairview, Jack was also a member of the Fairview City Council and President of the Fairview Sports Booster Club.

Upon his retirement in 2021, Jack and Jane moved to Lake Tenkiller near Cookson, Oklahoma where he enjoyed gardening, collecting cacti, and spending time with his friends, family, and grandkids.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Bessie Schallner; and his brother, James Schallner. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jane; his son, Jeremy Schallner of Las Cruces, New Mexico; his daughter and her husband, Janis and Darren Ferguson of Olympia, Washington; and his two grandchildren, Henry and Daphne Ferguson, who always brought a smile to his face.

Survivors also include his other five siblings and their spouses residing throughout Oklahoma. They are Sue Henderson and her husband, Jim, of Alva; Judy Neilson and her husband, Wayne, of Alva; Jay Schallner and his wife, Sherry, of Oklahoma City; Janette Folger and her husband, Fred, of Helena; and Joyce Nash and her husband, Rusty, of Ringwood. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law Nancy Schallner of Tulsa; Joyce Ryel and her husband, Ray, of Aline; his brother-in-law Joe Strubhart and his wife, Kristi, of Edmond, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11:00am at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Triple J Lodge in Cookson, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to the Cookson Volunteer Fire Department in Jack's memory.
