Jerry Lee Dorr was born July 6, 1941, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, to Del and Loye Dorr. He was raised on the family farm. When Jerry was 15, his brother Gary Del was born. Some of his happiest memories were cruising the streets of Tahlequah in his '57 Chevy as a teenager. He was a proud member of the graduating class of 1959 from Tahlequah High School. Jerry worked his way through college at Northeastern State where he graduated in 1965 with a degree in Mathematics.
In 1965, after graduation, Jerry married the love of his life, Ann Hicks. In 1966, Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force. Jerry served his country teaching electronics and pilot weather training to new recruits. Upon his return from the Air Force, Jerry started a small two-way radio sales and service business, serving many in the community.
In 1969, the Lord blessed Jerry and Ann with a son, Jarrod. In 2006, Jarrod married Leslie and they gave Jerry two granddaughters, Emily and Hailey, who brought him much joy. Jerry was a quiet man who kept his own council. He was a loyal man who kept friends for life. Jerry and his childhood friend, Kelly Piersall, shared a love of old cars and enjoyed traveling to many car shows. Jerry was a mentor and role model to Jarrod's friends. One special friend, Ron Rogers, became a second son to Jerry and Ann.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ann, of 57 years, his son Jarrod and wife Leslie, grandchildren, Emily and Hailey, his brother Gary Del and wife Laurie and family, his beloved Aunt Cleeta Gammill, and many friends and family.
