Jessie R. Hobbs the son of Albert and Ellen (Stanley) Hobbs was born January 18, 1938 in Teresita, Oklahoma and departed this life on October 22, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 4 days.
Jessie started school at Woodall before his family moved to Idabel and he graduated from Idabel High School in 1955. He enlisted into the Army on February 27, 1957 and served his country proudly for over 20 years in Vietnam, Germany and finally Fort Belvoir, Virginia before retiring from the Army in November of 1977. Jessie was awarded the Bronze Star during his service. Jessie married Eula Mae (Patton) Caudill on August 20, 1968 and they were married for over 45 years until her passing in December of 2003. On August 1, 2005 in Sherriff Norman Fisher's office with Danny Lewis officiating Jessie married Barbara Ann Kirk. Jessie was a cattle rancher, and enjoyed his time out on his 160 acres in Peggs. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, but he was an avid OU Sooners fan; he also enjoyed watching NFL football and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed being outside. Jessie touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eula May Caudill; his sister Cora McGowan; and his brothers Gene Hobbs, Bill Hobbs and Alfred Hobbs.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Barby Hobbs of the home; His sons David Ray Hobbs and wife Angie of Ft. Stockton, TX, Brian Matthew Kirk and Fiancé Shanna Kenyon of Tahlequah, Jimmy Dale Caudill and wife Angie of Claremore and Bobby Alan Caudill of Orlando, FL; his former daughter-in-law Deleana Kirk of Pryor; his brother Alvin Hobbs and wife Juanita of Tuttle, OK; a special niece Louise Eason and husband Wendell of Wright City, OK; 17 grandchildren: David Hobbs Jr., Jeffrey Hobbs, Rebecca Hobbs, Calvin Hobbs, Tyler Matthew Kirk, Kailey Kirk, Brian Austin Kirk, Cianna Wilson, David Wilson, Angela Marshall, Christian Wilson, Cayden Humphrey, Chance Henson, Colby Henson, Caitlyn Caudill, Brianna Caudill and Alicia Gross; and 2 great grandchildren Genesis Ares Hobbs and Carson Gross. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
