John Abel

December 25, 1946 — June 8, 2022

John Miles Abel of Tahlequah, Oklahoma passed away on June 8, 2022, at the age of 75. He was born on December 25, 1946, the son of Albert W. Abel and Esther R. (Hosler) Abel in Anderson, Indiana.

John was raised in Arizona since around the age of 4. He and his wife Sandra moved to Tahlequah in 2021. John was a Jack of all trades and could do just about anything he put his mind to. Whether he was outside looking for rocks to tumble and craft with or inside making jewelry, dream catchers, or doing bead work, he put 100% into it. Some of his favorite things to do, was to sit down after a long day and have a nice meal, especially if it was Sonoran Mexican food. He would play Santa for the kids during Christmas and on a nice day, you could find him out on the gun range shooting. John worked hard for a living and did many things during his life. He worked as an electrician, machinist, butcher, and ended with working as a custodian at Arizona State University before becoming ill and having to retire. John did the most selfless thing a man could, by serving his country in The United States Army. He was also a Vietnam veteran. In his later years, John loved spending time with his family especially his wife, Sandra. He has a fun sense of humor and you were never a stranger to him. He will be missed by everyone he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Esther, sister; Detty and brother; Chester Abel.

He is survived by a loving family: his wife; Sandra (Shoemake) Abel, son; Greg Abel, sisters; Dian and Dixie, grandchildren; Rosannah Abel and Briannah Abel, sister-in-law; Sherri Porter and husband Chris, sister-in-law; Fran Novak and husband Jack as well as numerous family and friends he leaves behind.
