Kenneth Rufus Glenn was born August 4th, 1947, to Rufus and Alma Hicks Glenn, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He passed from this life October 14th, 2026, at his home in Owasso, Oklahoma. Although he grew up in Tulsa, he enjoyed the weekends when he visited Grandma and Grandpa Hicks and his “country cousins” at Moodys. Those weekends playing with his cousins were treasured memories. Kenneth graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1965. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corp, and at 19 was immediately sent to Vietnam just as the war was escalating. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, where he was point leader for his unit.
On May 14th, 1967, while on patrol, his regiment was ambushed. Ken was wounded and many of his fellow soldiers were killed. He was eventually airlifted out with the other survivors. He later learned the helicopter pilot who rescued him was hit and later died. Kenneth spent weeks recovering in the hospital. He remained close to his Marine buddies for the rest of his life and attended Marine Corp Reunions each year. To honor his service and sacrifice, Kenneth was awarded the Purple Heart, as well as the Cherokee Medal of Patriotism, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation.
After returning home, he married Sueda Jackson and they were blessed with a precious daughter, Ginger Gail, in 1971. She was the love of their lives and remained so until her passing in 2022. Sueda called him “The Greatest Dad in the world”. Kenneth was a licensed Private Investigator who loved his work and was very proud of all he had accomplished in his field.
Kenneth deeply loved his family, and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a long-time member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He inspired loyalty in those who knew him. He had lifelong friends who loved him like a brother. He loved his extended family and looked forward to family reunions every fall where he exchanged stories with his cousins and entertained everyone with his wit, charm and humor. He used these God-given gifts to make life more fun for his friends and family.
Family members who passed from this life before Kenneth were his Parents, Rufus and Alma Glenn, his brother, Dennis Glenn, and beloved daughter, Ginger Glenn. He is survived by his Aunt, Georgia Ann Dorr, first cousins Allen, Rita, Grover, David, Margaret, Cathy, Jarrod, Laquita, Teresa, Renee, Leroy Jr., Paula, Brenda, countless second and third cousins, Sueda Glenn, and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
