Larry Retherford

Larry Dean Retherford went home with his Lord, after a brief illness, on February 4, 2018 at his home in Welling, OK. He was 68 years old.

Larry was born on June 5, 1949 in Redding, CA. He was the youngest of 5 boys to William Joseph & Wilma LaVerne (Blake) Retherford. He grew up in various places throughout California, including Redding, Sacramento, & Modesto.
He eventually moved to Colorado where he met the love of his life, LaWanda Faye Archer. When they were married on March 22, 1970, it was the beginning of a beautiful, happy marriage. Their relationship was one that many looked up
to, because it didn't take long around them to see the special bond they had. They resided in Montrose, CO for a short time before moving to Redding, CA.

Larry & Faye were both baptized into the General Assembly & Church of the Firstborn on October 29, 1971 by his father, Bro. Joe Retherford. They were blessed with four children- one daughter, Cathy, who passed away at birth, and
3 sons, Gary, Kenny, & Aaron. In 1974, the family moved to Delta, CO, and made their home there until moving to Welling, OK in 1986.

Larry was a hard worker & always provided for his family. He was a cabinet maker most of his life & loved his time in the shop. He often spent his free time tinkering on some project. He would help anyone in need.
While he preferred his help to be done quietly, it became most evident as he spent several years lovingly caring for Faye during her extended illness & went on to care for her mother, LaWanda even after Faye's passing.
His life was never quite the same without Faye, but he still remained his jolly self, always ready with something witty to say or tease someone about. He jokingly referred to himself as "Grumpy Grampa" but always had time for a hug
for the grandkids he loved so much.

Larry is survived by his sons, Gary Lyn & wife Nicole of Tulsa, OK; Kenneth DeWayne & wife JoAnn of Lexington, OK; Thomas Aaron & wife JoElla of Tahlequah, OK; Mother-In-Law LaWanda Archer of Welling, OK;
grandchildren Eleanor, David, Harley, Maria, ShyLynn & husband Tyler, Chelsea, Ashley, Daniel, Katherine, Allison, & Madison; Brothers-In-Law Al & wife Neva Archer, Bill & wife Debbie Archer; Sisters-In-Law Sue Retherford
& Linda Retherford, special uncle & aunt Chuck & Violet Byers, and a host of extended family, friends, and brethren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe & Wilma, wife LaWanda Faye, daughter Cathy Marie, 4 brothers- Carl, Ronnie, Jody & David; and Father-In-Law Bennie Archer and great-granddaughter Nettie Edwards.
