Lois Whittmore

Lois Marie Whittmore the daughter of Jack and Kathleen (McClure) Sanderson was born June 23, 1936, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on July 5, 2021, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years and 12 days.

Lois loved her family and enjoyed her role as a wife, mother and grandmother. She spent her time sewing, canning, baking, and doing cross-stitch. She was a seamstress and would make the boys shirts while they were growing up. She was a member of the Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) for many years and their first club was named Bethel which was later changed to Aprons and Lace; she and Stanley were also members of the Tahlequah Round-up Club for many years. Lois touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons Stanley Whittmore Jr. and Johnny Whittmore; her brother Howard Sanderson, her sister Wanda Hendricks and her best friend Glenda McCollum.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her husband of over 67 years Stanley Morgan Whittmore; her sons Carl Whittmore, Eddie Whittmore and Wesley Whittmore all of Tahlequah; 4 grandchildren Afton Kessinger of Pryor, Cole Whittmore of Tahlequah, Katelynn Brooks and husband Josh of Ft. Gibson and Colter Whittmore of Tahlequah; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
