Louella Candy Smith, a beloved resident of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on April 23, 1939, Louella was the cherished daughter of the late Reeder and Carrie (Candy) Jones
.The community is invited to honor Louella's remarkable life during a funeral service that will be held at Hart Funeral Home on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Prior to the service, a public viewing will take place from 9:00 AM until the start of the service, allowing friends and family to come together in remembrance. Following the service, Louella will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Cemetery, where her memory will forever be cherished.
Louella was a strong and compassionate homemaker who dedicated her life to her family, especially to her late husband, Bennie, and her children. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her spirited nature, and the joy she brought to those around her. A proud member of the Cherokee Nation, she shared her heritage with her family and was fluent in speaking the Cherokee language
.In addition to her parents, Louella was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Smith; her son, Russ Smith; her daughter, Connie Smith; her brothers, Deertrack and Jerry Jones; her sister, Eliza Bluebird; and her beloved grandson.
She is survived by her children Doris Moore, Alan (Claudia) Smith, Ferlin (Darcy) Smith, Carolyn (Sam) Ochoa, Aaron Smith, Jeff (Courtney) Smith and Gabe (Amanda) Smith. Louella also leaves behind her brothers Charlie, Ronnie, Leroy, and Levi Jones; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly .As we gather to celebrate Louella's life, we remember her as a loving sister, daughter, mother, and grandmother whose legacy of love will forever remain in our hearts. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this challenging time. "Her love was her legacy, and though she may be gone from our sight, the light she carried lives on in each of us."
