Margaret Edith Mostert, the daughter of Frederick and Hilda (Schumacher) McBride was born September 13, 1920, in Polk City, Iowa and departed this life on December 6, 2020, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 100 years, 2 months and 23 days.
Margaret got great enjoyment out of life. She was very accomplished in the art of piano picking out tunes at age 3 and singing tunes at age 2. She enjoyed singing and she taught piano to many students over the years. She loved to cook and she could sew very well. She was very health concious and walked a couple of miles a day. Margaret was very organized, she was a great administrator helping people be organized. She started the OWL's at Go Ye Village, a once monthly tea for women and she was the Chairman of the Christian Women's Club in Tahlequah. She was known for her hospitality. Rarely a week went by that she didn’t have company over. Her table at Thanksgiving was full and having overnight guests was normal. Even in Tahlequah she would have three or four couples over every Saturday morning for a pancake breakfast and loved to set a lovely dinner table for friends and neighbors. She was a very giving person. The greatest thing about Margaret was her love for the Lord, and her prayer life. She was a woman of prayer and there were many recipients of prayer by her over the past century. The life of Margaret Mostert impacted the lives of many over the years and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dr. John Mostert; her brother John McBride and her sister Ruth McBride Fischer.
She is survived by a loving family which includes her daughters Nancy Van Deusen of Mission Viejo, CA and Carolyn Bell of Orlando, FL; 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
