Mary May Bailey Spivey, 93, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at Journey Home in Bartlesville.
Mary was born in May 15, 1930, in Mehan, Oklahoma, to the late John Alexander and Florence Caton Thornbrue. She graduated from high school in 1948 and started to Draughon's Business School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She met the love of her life, Ed Bailey, in Tulsa, and were united in marriage on February 18, 1950. They lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma three times, Bristow, Oklahoma and Pampa, Texas, where their two children grew up and graduated from high school. While living there, they built a beautiful lake home on Lake Tenkiller and went almost every weekend. They lived in Alaska for several years and when retired, they moved to their lake home.
Mary was an excellent hostess, immaculate homemaker, and a fabulous cook. She loved to dance and loved all genres of music. She enjoyed her family gatherings, traveling, and weekends at the lake. She also sewed beautiful garments. Mary was a faithful Christian and lived her testimony. She was easy to love and loved unconditionally.
Mary is survived by her son, Bobby Wayne and wife, Michele of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Charmayne Cornsilk and husband, Larry of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Meagan (Perry) Crafton, Brandon Bailey, Kimberly Costilow, Raymond (Zedeana) Cornsilk, and Shannon Cornsilk; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Felts, Cole Cornsilk, Charles Cornsilk, Camden and Cason Johnson; great-great grandsons, Benjamin and Brady Redden; great-great granddaughters, Lauren (Tyler) Redden, Bailey Cornsilk, Treena Cornsilk, and Mallori Clark; and one great great great granddaughter, Ariah Hubbard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward Bailey, and a brother, John.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 22, 2024, 1:00 PM, in the Chapel of Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah with a visitation starting at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Cookson Cemetery in Cookson, Oklahoma.
