Mary Timmons

November 5, 1924 — November 24, 2016

Mary Magdalene Timmons of Tahlequah died on November 24, 2016 after 92 years of a life well lived. Born to George and Dolly Tygart on November 5, 1924 in Paris, Arkansas, she graduated from high school and moved to California in search of a better life. She loved the bay area and was quickly followed by her parents and all but one of her siblings. It was in California that she met and married her husband of 58 years, Forrest Timmons. Forrest predeceased her, as did her parents, all 6 of her siblings and one granddaughter, Jennifer Reasor. She is survived by her son Ronald Timmons of Tahlequah and his wife Wilba; five daughters, including Sharon Wimpee of Broken Arrow and her husband Tom, Susan Kelley of Tahlequah and her husband Dean, Lanna Richardson of Tulsa and her husband Gary, Diane Timmons of Tahlequah and her husband Bill Hickey, and Mitzi Reasor of Tahlequah and her husband Jeff; eleven grandchildren, including Lisa Pinnick of Tahlequah and her husband Jason, Jason Timmons of Tahlequah, Chris Combs of Broken Arrow and his wife Kelly, Sherri Polovich of Broken Arrow and her husband Terry, Angela Cotner of Edmond and her husband Chris, Wendy Lawson of Moore and her husband Jim, April Courouleau of Edmond, Krystie Cupp of Broken Arrow and her husband Terry, Forrest Willcox of Lewisville, Texas and his wife Nevena, Amanda Freel of Edmond and her husband Jordon and Lauren Yeager of Edmond and her husband Joel; Ross Hickey of Miami, Florida; twenty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Magdalene was a fierce protector of her children and grandchildren, all of whom in her eyes could do no wrong. She kept an immaculate house and always had something good-smelling and delicious in the oven. She was the consummate hostess, making everyone who crossed her doorstep feel welcome. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, had a long career of which she was very proud, and traveled extensively which she greatly enjoyed. She had high standards and lived them every day of her life; she was strong and steadfast; elegant and energetic. She loved to tend the flower beds, read novels, make jelly and bake coconut pies. A whole host of friends and all her family loved and admired her.
