Funeral services for Mike Wheeler Sr. will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday August 15, 2018 at the Hart Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Online condolences may be left at www.hartfuneralhome.net.

Raymond Michael Wheeler Sr. the son of Raymond and Kathryn (Talley) Wheeler was born July 29, 1954 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on August 10, 2018 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years and 12 days.

Mike enjoyed life and loved his family. Being a grandfather was one of his greatest joys; he could spend hours tinkering with Legos and gadgets with his grandson and rarely missed a chance to encourage his grandkids at their soccer and softball games. His love of sports could be seen throughout his life, from coaching football in Broken Arrow for many years to him being an avid OU football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Mike was also a big fan of music and concerts. He never missed a beat to share songs he loved and enjoyed listening to old tunes and bands with friends and family. Besides sports and music, Mike had a passion for air and space. He showed his boys how to use a telescope and look for constellations and even had a private pilot license to fly whenever he got the chance. Mike touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Patricia Wheeler of the home; his sons Michael Wheeler Jr. and wife Ronnetta of Norman, OK and Jimmy Wheeler and wife Tram of Edmond, OK; his sisters Elada Kirk of Muskogee, OK and Brenda Shine of Broken Arrow, OK; and his grandchildren Sadie Wheeler and T.C. Wheeler of Norman, OK. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
