Mildred Elaine Carroll, age 89 of Tahlequah, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Northeastern Health System in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Shana J. Dry officiating. Burial will follow in the Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of the Hart Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church.
Mildred Elaine Carroll was born December 11, 1933 in Westville, Oklahoma to Lewis and Gracie (Smith) Barnard. She grew up in Westville where she always had a love for music, starting with piano lessons at the age of 9. Becoming an accomplished pianist. She sang in the Westville High School choir and even sang a solo at the Commencement Ceremony. Mildred then attended and graduated from the Northeastern State College with a teaching degree in music education.
On August 19, 1955 Mildred married Dr. Charles E. Carroll in Westville, Oklahoma they moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Mildred taught 6th grade while Charles completed Dental School. Charles then went to the service and where they spent time in Fort Polk, Louisiana. They then moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma where Charles opened his dental office in 1959. Mildred taught music at Lost City, then later gave private lessons as well as working in Charles' Dentist office. She was active in Church and community organizations. They were members of the Tulsa Camping & Canoeing Club and traveled extensively including Russia and Spain. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.
Survivors include her husband Dr. Charles of the home; three sons Don Carroll and companion Barbara Cooper, Frank and wife Amy Carroll, David and wife Lisa Carroll; one sister Dr. Laura Jane Koehn; Grandchildren Dr. Catheryn Jennings, Cristin Carroll, Brittney Carroll and companion Brandon Bruce, Brian and wife Lisa Carroll, Alex Carroll and companion Mallory Semrow and Ethin Cooper.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother
