Nelson Thomas Cummins

Nelson Thomas Cummins, 75, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord, July 18, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Cummins was born October 5, 1950, in Port Huron, Michigan, to the late John Cummins and Ruth Evelyn Violit Cummins.

Mr. Cummins attended Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas.

He married Nila Roberts in 1971 in Houston, Texas. They moved to Tahlequah in 1977 to help build a Christian school which was known as Omega Christian Academy where he was a teacher and principal.

He attended Community Christian Fellowship in Keys where he was a former pastor for five years.

Mr. Cummins is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nila Cummins of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; daughter, Sherry Lingbeck and her husband Kendall; granddaughters, Breanna Trammel and her husband Preston, Megan McDaniel and her husband Trevor, Brittany Martins and her husband Victor; great-granddaughters, Haven Trammel, Layla Trammel and Baylee McDaniel; great-grandsons, James McDaniel , Kayson McDaniel, Peyton Martins, Beckham Hebb, and Kohen Martins; brothers, William Hinkle and his wife Vicki, James Hinkle and his wife Kathy, and John Allen Cummins and his wife Kathy; sister, Ruth Ann Leaym; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Ruth Cummins.

Visitation will be held Tuesday for friends, July 21, 2026, 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and Wednesday for family, July 22, 2026, 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Hart Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM, in the Chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
