Funeral services for Nora Pinkerton will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday August 31, 2015 in the Hart Funeral Chapel with Mr. Harry Fitzgerald and Mr. Lloyd Coppedge officiating. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
Nora Pearl Pinkerton the daughter of Will and Dora (Morris) Covington was born February 4, 1918 in the Brushy Mountain Community and departed this life on August 26, 2015 in Springdale, Arkansas at the age of 97 years, 6 months and 22 days.
Nora Graduated from Northeastern State College & taught at Rabbit Trap and Maryetta for 9 years. Nora was married to Ben W. Pinkerton and together they joined Will & Dora Covington in the shoe store in Tahlequah. Then Nora & Ben, in a few years they bought it outright and changed the name to Pinkerton's. They Retired after 33 years to go camping with their dear friends. She was an active member of Eastern Star & the Garden Club. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Nora enjoyed having conversation and would talk to anyone. She enjoyed cooking and shopping, and was very good at both. Nora touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ben W. Pinkerton; her sisters Lois Thompson, Lilie Catron, Zoe Nolan, Chloe Clark, Wynona Ford and Colleen Covington; and her brother Lloyd Covington.
She is survived by her sons Ronald Pinkerton and wife Nancy of Springdale, AR and Mike Pinkerton and wife Sandra of Stilwell, OK; 4 grandchildren: Rhonda & husband Steve Lewis, Jeff &wife Kristen Pinkerton, Pamela & husband Matthew Martin and Alex Pinkerton; and 3 great grandchildren: Alecia, Dawson, Anna and Blaine. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
