In 1949 she married J.L.Briscoe. They moved to Independence, Kansas where Norma worked for Sinclair Oil while J.L. was attending college. After J.L. graduated from Independence Junior College they relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma where J.L. graduated from the University of Tulsa. During this time Norma was employed by Sunray Oil Company. After her children, Frank, Mike, Rebecca and Kathleen, were older she worked at East Central High School in Tulsa for 8 1/2 years.

She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tulsa for 32 years. While at the church she served as secretary of the Women's Circle and later as Vice President of the Women's Association. Her interests were many and varied. She was a member of St. John Hospital Auxiliary in Tulsa where she volunteered for over eight years. Other activities included being a pianist at the church, completing a course in New Testament Greek, and teaching a Sunday School class of 2nd graders, She completed several art classes and was quite skilled in painting with both oils and watercolors. One of her most enjoyable activities was composing poetry for family and friends. After leaving St. Andrews Church they joined Christ United Methodist Church in Tulsa where they were active members for 12 years. After living in Tulsa for 55 years J.L. and Norma moved (in 2005) to Go Ye Village in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Her beloved husband, daughter-in-law, 4 children and their children (deceased parents and sister), nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, have each inspired her, and in many different ways brought her closer to God and His Love and Peace.
