Perry Ummerteskee

Tahlequah

Perry Wayne Ummerteskee was born on December 12, 1956, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma the son of John Ummerteskee Sr. and Mary Ann Reese. He gained his wings on June 9, 2021, at the age of 64.

Perry was a proud member of the Briggs community, where he was simply known as "Huck." Huck loved spending his time at the river, especially with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and cooking on an open flame. Hog meat was his specialty with a side of brown beans and fry bread. When Huck wasn't at the river, you could find him at home playing a game of Yahtzee, marbles or a hand of solitaire which was his favorite. He also loved to share his knowledge to the younger kids on making stickball sticks, bows and baskets. Huck worked for Cherokee Nation Food Distribution for many years driving trucks. He will be missed and loved by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ummerteskee Sr. and Mary Ann Reese, his wife Lela Ummerteskee, his sisters Debra Ann Ummerteskee and Earlene Ummerteskee, brother John Ummerteskee Jr. Two nephews, Victor Duran, Lonnie Davis "Nooner" Jr., his aunts, Francis Fields, John Ann Gritts, and Norma Ya' hola.

He is survived by 5 daughters, Tomasine Moore and husband Tommy of Welling, Lucy Wilder and husband Jason Sr. of Tahlequah, Debra Ann Ummerteskee-Olvera and husband Sonny of Tahlequah, Melissa Lowe and husband Elmer of Taft, Ashlea Zamora and husband Kevin Sr. of Tulsa and one son, Michael Bunch and wife Dana of Tahlequah, four sisters, Marquita Caviness and husband Rickie, Michelle Kirk and husband Rickie, Patricia Fuentes- Castillo and husband Casimiro, Sonja Ummerteskee-Gourd, three brothers, Micheal Ummerteskee, Rodney Ummerteskee and wife Susie and Bobby Ummerteskee. Jerry Dry will be officiating.
