Reil Edwin VanBuskirk passed away on April 22, 2020 in Tulsa, OK at age 33.
Reil is survived by his grandmother, Juanita VanBuskirk of Peggs, his sister Tiffany Puckett and Husband, John, of Pryor, his sister Jennie VanBuskirk of Pryor, nephews Kaleb and Austin Polak, nieces Natalie Polak and Emerson Marlin, aunts Dena, Vicki, Tressa, Tammy, Tanya, uncle Mike and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Velna VanBuskirk, father Mark Pickup, and grandparents-Joe VanBuskirk and Ina and Guy Pickup.
Reil was born on August 22, 1986 in Tahlequah, OK to Velna VanBuskirk and Mark Pickup. He attended elementary school in Peggs, OK and high school in Tahlequah, OK. He then joined the United States Army as an artillery specialist. Reil later practiced carpentry, painting, and drywall and became a brick mason.
Reil never met a stranger and because of his love for others, he dedicated his life to helping those in need. He could teach us all how to forgive and value priceless things in life rather than materials.
He enjoyed music and often expressed this love through singing and playing his guitar. Both sisters remember the same song he taught them on an acoustic guitar in their Nana’s kitchen as kids.
He grew a love of fishing and animals since the time he was little, even having a favorite dog named “Jasmine.”
You could have never met Reil a day in your life and feel the love he had for his family within minutes of meeting him and would be the first person to offer a hand in any situation.
Reil would want you to remember to love others as God loves us no matter where they are in life.
