Jimmie Bluford Foreman was born August 2, 1944 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Sarah Bearpaw and Daniel Foreman, Sr. He grew up in Tulsa, OK and graduated from Central High School. He attended the University of Tulsa for two years. He enlisted in the Air Force and was active from 19641970.
Jim made a profession of faith at the age of 12 and as a young man would sing with a quartet. He loved music and played the guitar in his music ministry. He met and later married Katherine Hill. Soon they began their work in the church together. His ministry started in Bowen Indian Baptist Church as yuth leaders, and this was their ministry in other churches for a number of years.
Jim would soon answer the call and surrender to preach the Gospel. He became Pastor of New Life Indian Baptist Church located in Tulsa, OK. He led an active congregation that was driven by soul winning. He made sure the church knew how to lead the lost to Christ from the very young to the elders. He and Katherines vision was to win every lost Native American in the community to Christ.
Jim was called to Pastor churches throughout his ministry in Tulsa, OK Farmington, NM Hollywood, FL and Tahlequah, OK. He served as chaplain at both Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah and also at Navajo Prepatory School in Farmington, NM where he influenced many Native students from all over the United States. He was committed to his ministry and often would start churches in his own home. He wanted as many Native people to know the love and hope that comes from Jesus Christ.
Jim had the opportunity to travel to the Cree Nation of Canada where he boldly preached the Gospel to a community that was desolate. He became burdened after seeing firsthand that the people were without churches. During his short visit there he counseled with married couples and prayed with all who had health or life struggles.
Out of Jims life long ministry he has helped countless people. Some have become ministers, pastors, mission workers, Sunday school teachers, song leaders, and soul winners. He would not take any credit but always gave the Glory to God for changing lives and using them in and outside the church.
Jim unexpectedly passed away Monday morning, December 8, 2014. He was surrounded by his four daughters singing him into the Glory of Heaven. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife, sister, and three brothers. He is survived by his daughters Connie Foreman, Lisa Foreman, Hannah Foreman, Amy Foreman Carey, his son in law, Paul Carey, his brother Sam Foreman. His grandchildren Dustin and Andrea Terry, Emily, Rachel, Joel, and Vernon Buckner II, Amber, Daniel, Nayla, and Sarah Carey, and Josiah Foreman many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank all those who sent prayers, gave words of encouragement, and shared precious memories.
