Roy Cates

Roy Allen Cates, son of Floyd and Alberta Cates was born 12/01/1945 in Jenks, Oklahoma and departed June 29, 2018 at the age of 72 years old.

Roy attended and graduated from Jenks High School. He went on to OSU and then went into the Air Force. Roy then went to fight for his country in Vietnam. After he returned from Vietnam in 1969, Roy married the love of his life and full-time partner, Linda Pettit.

They lived in California briefly, but came to Oklahoma and Roy went to work for PSO in 1971 in the Tulsa Area and then moved to Lawton, OK with the company until 1997. Roy then went to work for AEP as a contractor until his retirement in April 2017.

Roy and Linda moved to Tahlequah in 2006. Roy loved to travel and when home work on his place. During his lifetime he built 1 home from the bottom up and remodeled several others. He was a talented carpenter. He was the only man I ever knew who always read the directions and manuals first.

He was proceeded in death by Floyd and Alberta Cates (Mom and Dad); and brother Jessie Cates.

He is survived by his wife of 48 ½ years, Linda Cates; Brother Kenny Petit and James Cates; Sister Anna Moses Petit.
