Sherman Collins

October 23, 1927 — January 12, 2018

(Bud)Sherman Eli Collins, the son of Eli and Rena Collins was born October 23, 1927 in Dora, Missouri and departed this life on January 12, 2018 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 20 days. He was well known as "Bud" Collins.

Bud enjoyed life and loved his family. He joined the Marine Corps as early as he could to provide for his Mom and siblings. Betty Jean was the love of his life and was waiting for him when he returned from WWII. Together they had two children, Johnny Eugene and Barbara Ann. In his younger years he trained and raced race horses and was the proud owner of "Zoomtime", his grand prize winning horse. He once broke his ribs at the age of 50, trying to prove that he was a better bullrider than the new young bucks. He was a businessman who enjoyed the thrill of a great bargain. He also enjoyed making his daily rounds on his dairy farm and working his cattle. His Grandchildren remember him spoiling them with bags of candy and fudgsicles from their general store. Bud enjoyed a good western and he loved John Wayne. To the grandchildren he was John Wayne. He loved a good joke and to make people laugh. He had a laugh that could be heard in the next county. Bud will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

"Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway."
-John Wayne
