It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terrel Wade Mitchell, age 70, on October 22nd, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, Granddude, brother, and friend. Terrel Mitchell was born in Oklahoma City and was preceded in death by his parents Edwin Mondell Mitchell and Norma Jean Mitchell. He was also an enrolled citizen of the Choctaw Nation. Terrel was actively involved in the Band, Football, and Wrestling teams while at Tahlequah High School until he graduated in the spring of 1972. He later went on to graduate from Northeastern State University. Terrel was known for many things but some of the fun memories shared were listening to Pink Floyd, New Mexico vacations with Rebecca and family, and the amazing chili he would make for OU game days.
Terrel Wade Mitchell was married to his devoted wife, Rebecca Mitchell, for 48 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving family and shared countless memories.
He is survived by his children, Michael Joseph Mitchell (Dustin Renee Mitchell) and Emily Mitchell Ediger (Christopher James Ediger), who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Elizabeth Mitchell, who he now joins in eternal peace.
Known affectionately as "Grand-dude," he was the most amazing grandfather to his six grandchildren: Declan Ediger, Parker Ediger, Tinley Ediger, Lyla Ediger, AJ Mitchell, and Riley Mitchell. His love and joy for his grandchildren were boundless, and he created many cherished moments with them. He could always be found at all of the soccer games and making them smoothies to fight over.
Terrel Wade Mitchell is also survived by his siblings: Raymon Mitchell (Janet Mitchell), Kelly Seratt (Mark Seratt), John David Mitchell (Lynda Mitchell), Eric Mitchell, and Robert Mitchell (Debbie Mitchell). He shared a special bond with each of them and will be deeply missed by his entire family. Terrel could always be counted on to say the prayer at every family gathering to bless the food.
A celebration of Terrel Mitchell's life will be held on October 29th at Hart's Funeral Home. The service will be at 2:00PM and a visitation hour will be held prior at 1:00PM. He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
